In a celebration of creativity that spans more than a century, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards spotlight the bold ideas and powerful voices of young artists and writers across the country. Each year, more than 110,000 teens submit their work, yet only about 2,500 earn national medals. This prestigious program honors originality, skill, and the emergence of a distinct creative voice, and this year, our district proudly stands among the nation’s best.
Two exceptional CV students have earned national recognition. Alina Lin, a ninth grader at CV9, received a Gold Medal and the American Voices Award for her piece “China’s National Heartbeat.” Julia Ray, an eighth grader at Eagle View Middle School, earned a Silver Medal for her poem “Slaughter.” Both have been invited to the National Medalist Reception at Carnegie Hall in June, an honor reserved for the country’s top young creators. They credit their success to the guidance and encouragement of their teachers, Ms. Demarco and Ms. Dolbin, whose support helped turn talent into achievement.
We are #CVProud of you, Alina and Julia!
